Terms of Service

1. Agreement to these Terms
These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Loadcircle Ltd ("we", "us", "our") governing your use of the Sown application and this website (together, the "Service"). By installing or using Sown you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What Sown is, and what it is not
Sown is a private notebook about people. It keeps what you write down about the people you care about, and what you have done with them, on your own phone. It is not a contact manager, a messaging service, a calendar, a reminder service, an archive of record, or a backup service.
- It is a memory aid, not a system of record. Sown shows you what you wrote. It does not verify it, remind you of anything, or tell you what you owe anyone.
- It cannot see anything else. Sown does not read your phone's contacts, messages, call log or calendar. The names and facts in Sown are ones you typed.
- The record is only where you put it. Everything is on one phone unless you write a backup file yourself.
3. Your record, and keeping it
Everything you enter belongs to you. It is stored only on your device, in the app's private storage, and we never receive a copy (see the Privacy Policy). Two consequences follow, and they matter:
- Keep your own copy. If the device is lost, damaged or reset, your record goes with it and we cannot recover it for you, because we never had it. Back up to a file you keep somewhere you trust, and make your own device backups.
- Backup and restore are free, at any number of people, and always will be. We do not charge to stop you losing your own list.
- The Service is provided as-is. We do not guarantee that any record will be preserved.
4. The free tier and the one payment
Sown is free in full for up to 25 people, with every feature working — every fact, every note, the home-screen widget, and backup and restore. There is no advertising and nothing is taken away when you reach 25: the people you already keep stay readable, editable, backup-able and exportable.
If you keep more than 25 people, you can lift that ceiling with a single payment through Google Play. It is a one-time purchase and not a subscription: it does not renew, there is nothing to cancel, and the ceiling does not come back. The purchase is tied to the Google account that buys it, and Google Play's own terms and refund policy apply to the transaction. Prices are shown in Google Play, in your own currency, at the time you buy.
5. Licence
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Sown for your own personal or household purposes, on devices you own or control. The app, its design, text and graphics are owned by Loadcircle Ltd or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property law. You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app, or reverse engineer it except as permitted by law.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Sown in breach of any applicable law, and not to use information you keep in Sown to harass, stalk or harm anyone. Sown is a private notebook; using it to build a record about someone for the purpose of harming them is a breach of these Terms. You are responsible for the information you write about other people.
7. No warranty
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any record you keep will be preserved. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights you have as a consumer under applicable law that cannot be excluded, or our liability for death, personal injury, fraud, gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, even if advised of the possibility; and our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose, or GBP 50. This section does not apply where prohibited by applicable law, including your mandatory consumer rights.
9. Changes to the Service and to these Terms
We may update the app and these Terms. If a change is material and reduces your rights, we will publish the revised Terms here with a new effective date before it takes effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance; if you do not agree, stop using the app and uninstall it.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing a claim, please contact us at the address below and give us 30 days to resolve it informally. Subject to any non-excludable consumer rights, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
